In 2020, Christian Tominski and Heidrun Schumann from the Institute for Visual and Analytic Computing published their textbook on Interactive Visual Data Analysis. Two years later, in 2022, the book was included in the Choice list of Outstanding Academic Titles. This year, the book's success continues with the publication of a Chinese translation by China Science and Technology Press.
Several courses in Visual Computing and Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the University of Rostock use the book. It provides a systematic and comprehensive overview of interactive visual data analysis. The reader is introduced to visualization techniques for various types of data and fundamental concepts for interacting with these data and their visualizations. The book further covers relevant automatic analytical computations to support the visual data analysis of large and complex data, and it sheds light on advanced concepts for visual analytics.
