Abstract:
In this talk we will argue that some aspects of academia that seem mundane or distracting can turn out to be what matters most in the long run.
We will illustrate this with some hard-won lessons and anecdotes from the roller-coaster ride of our careers over the past twelve years: we left academia in 2014 and joined a fast-growing genomics company that later went public. There, we met our future co-founders, and the four of us started our own company, Limbus Medical Technologies. After a very intense decade of work, Limbus now has over 50 employees across Europe and is the German market leader for decision support systems in clinical genomics.
